BETH-GADER ( 1 Chronicles 2:51 ), mentioned with Bethlehem and Kiriath-jearim. It may be the same as Geder , Joshua 12:13 .

== Smith's Bible Dictionary ==

Beth-ga'der. (house of the wall). Doubtless a place, though it occurs in the genealogies of Judah, as if a person. 1 Chronicles 2:51.

== International Standard Bible Encyclopedia ==

beth -gā´dẽr ( בּית־גּדר , bēthgādhēr  ; Βαιθγεδώρ , Baithgedō̇r , or (Codex Vaticanus) Βαιθγαιδών , Baithgaidō̇n ): The name occurs between those of Bethlehem and Kiriath-jearim in 1 Chronicles 2:51 . It is possibly identical with Geder of Joshua 12:13 .

== Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature ==

(Heb. Beyth-Gader', בֵּיתאּגָּדֵר, house of the wall; Sept. Βαιθγεδώρ v. r. Βεθγεδώρ ), a place in the tribe of Judah, of which Hareph is named as "father" or founder (1 Chronicles 2:51); apparently the same with the GEDER (See Geder) (q.v.) of Joshua 12:13, and probably identical also with the GEDOR (See Gedor) (q.v.) of Joshua 19:58, as it seems (from the associated names) to have been in the mountains.
