Laurence Booth [1]
an English prelate of the 15th century, was half-brother of William Booth, archbishop of York. He became master of Pembroke Hall, Cambridge, and chancellor of that university. He was an eminent benefactor of his college, conferring thereon, among other things, the manor and patronage of Overton Waterfield, Huntingdonshire. From being chancellor of Cambridge, he was preferred to the same office to Margaret, queen of Henry VI, and, well discharging that office, he was, in the thirteenth year of Edward IV, (1474), made lord high chancellor of England, having first been bishop of Durham, and afterwards archbishop of York, and being a benefactor of both sees.
