The same name is also carried by two other mythological characters, one a scholar of Siva, and the other a son of Pandu, also of supernatural strength. During the war between the Kurus and Pandus he saved his brothers from death by fire. He also distinguished himself for his fearlessness. and bravery in besieging. Duryodun, and slaying the mighty Elephant Assuthama. He eventually threw himself into an abyss, because he trusted more in his own strength than in God.
