a Presbyterian minister, was born in Hanover County, Va., July 25, 1794.. He was educated at Hampden Sidney College, Va., and spent three years at the Associate Reformed Seminary. N. Y. In 1819 he entered Princeton Theological Seminary, where he spent two years. He was licensed as a minister in 1821, and his ministry extended over a large part of the states of Maryland and Virginia.
