Thomas Atkin [1]

an English Congregational minister, was born at Warrington in 1806. He received his collegiate training at Rotherham College and at the University of Glasgow. He began his ministry in 1832 at St. Paul's, Wigan, where he labored six years, and then became pastor at Glossop, remaining there till his death, Jan. 30, 1876. Mr. Atkin was clear in discernment, forcible in expression, and fearless in everything. His thorough devotedness, genial, unassuming kindness, faithfulness, and zeal gave him great influence.
