(Heb. with the art. ha-Ashdodi', חָאִשְׁדּוֹדִי; Sept. οΑ῾᾿ζώτιος, Vulg. Azotil, A.V. " the Ashdothite"), a less correct mode ( Joshua 13:3) of Anglicizing the name Ashdodite ( Nehemiah 4:7), or inhabitant of ASHDOD (See Ashdod) (q.v.).
