John Woolley [1]
an English clergyman, was born in 1816; studied at University College, London, and Exeter College, Oxford, graduating in 1836. He became successively head-master of Rossall School, Lancashire, and of King Edward's Grammar-school, Norwich. He resigned the latter position in 1852, on becoming professor of logic and the classics in the University of Sydney, Australia, of which he was elected principal. In 1865 he paid a visit to England, and on his return voyage was lost in the "London," Jan. 11, 1866.
