Hez'ra-i. (Enclosed). One of the thirty heroes of David's guard.  2 Samuel 23:35. (B.C. 1046). In the parallel list,  1 Chronicles 11:37, the name appears as Hezro .

( 2 Samuel 23:35). (See Hezro). Hez'ro (Heb. Chetsro', הֶצרוֹ, i. q. Hezron; Sept. Ἀσαραί,Vulg. Hezro), a Carmelite, one of David's distinguished warriors ( 1 Chronicles 11:37). He is called in the margin and in  2 Samuel 23:35, HEZRAI (Chetsray', חֶצְרִי , Sept. Ἀσαρί,Vulg. Hesrai). B.C. 1046. Kennicott, however (Dissertation, p. 207). decides, on the almost unanimous authority of the ancient version, that Hezrai is the original form of the name.
