less correct forms of Anglicizing the word ANATHOTHITE. (See Anathoth). The variations in the orthography of the name, both in Hebrew and the A.V., should be noticed.
1. The city: In 1 Kings 2, 26, and Jeremiah 32:9, it is עֲנָתֹת, and similarly in 2 Samuel 23:27, with the article; Anathoth.
2. The citizens: Anethothite, 2 Samuel 23:27; Anetothite, 1 Chronicles 27:12; Antothite, 1 Chronicles 11:28; 1 Chronicles 12:3. "Jeremiah of Anathoth," Jeremiah 29:27, should be "Jeremiah the Anathothite."
