Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible [1]

Ebron (  Joshua 19:28 ). A town in the territory of Asher, elsewhere called Abdon (wh. see, 5 ), which is probably the correct form. It was a Levitical city (  Joshua 21:30 ,   1 Chronicles 6:74 ). The site has not been identified.

International Standard Bible Encyclopedia [3]

ē´brun ( עברן , ‛ebhrōn  ; the King James Version wrongly, Hebron ): A town in the territory of Asher ( Joshua 19:28 ). Probably we should read here Abdon , as in  Joshua 21:30;  1 Chronicles 6:74 , the substitution of the Hebrew letter resh (ר , "r") for the Hebrew letter daleth (ד , "d") being a common copyist's error. See Abdon .
