(Strong'S #4912 Verb sunecho soon-ekh'-o ) "to hold together, constrain," is translated "I am in a strait" in Philippians 1:23 (Passive Voice), i.e., being restricted on both sides, under a pressure which prevents a definite choice; so in Luke 12:50 , "(how) am I straitened," i.e., pressed in.
