ISTALCURUS ( 1Es 8:40 ). ‘Uthi the son of Istalcurus’ here stands for ‘Uthai and Zabbud’ in Ezra 8:14 .
International Standard Bible Encyclopedia [2]
is - tal - kū´rus ( Ἰσταλκοῦρος , Istalkoúros ): 1 Esdras 8:40, corresponding to Zabbud in Ezra 8:14 . In Swete's text the name is Istakalkos.
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature [3]
"In 1 Esdras 8:40. the son of Istalcurus' (ὁ τοῦ Ι᾿σταλκούρου ) is substituted for ‘ and ZABBUD' of the corresponding list in Ezra 8:14. The Keri has Zilkkur instead of Zabbud, and of this there is perhaps some trace in Istalcurus."
