(Heb. Hegay', הֵגִי, perh. eunuch, Esther 2:8; Esther 2:15; Sept. Τα ‹,Vulg. Egeus) or He'ge (Heb. id. הֵגֶא idem, Esther 2:3; Sept. omits, Vulg. Egeus), the eunuch having charge of the harem of Xerxes, and the preparation of the females sought as concubines for him. B.C. 479. Winer (W ö rterbuch s.v.) thinks he may be the same with Hegias ( ῾Ηγίας), who is mentioned by Ctesias (Perseus, 24) as present at the check of the Persian army at Thermopylae.
