(1) Same as Elam ( Ezra 10:26 ).

(2) Father of Shimei ( 1 Kings 4:18 , the King James Version "Elah"). See Elah , 2.

( ᾿Ηλά, Vulg. Jolaman), one of the heads of clans (or places) whose "sons" had taken foreign wives after the Babylonian exile ( 1 Esdras 9:27); evidently the ELAM (See Elam) (q.v.) of the Hebrews text ( Ezra 10:26). (See Elah).
