Christoph Huldreich Rennecke [1]
a Lutheran theologian of Germany, was born in 1797. From 1825 to 1831 he acted as tutor of the duchess Helelna of Mecklenburg, afterwards duchess of Orleans. From 1831 to 1871 he was pastor at Dargun, in Mecklenburg, when he retired from the ministry and lived as a patriarch among his people. He died April 27, 1881, at Rostock. Rennecke was a brother-in-law of the well-known professor of Halle, Dr. A. Tholuck, with whom he corresponded on the most important topics of the time. He wrote, Die Lehre vom Amt der Schlussel (Malchin, 1845): — Begrundung der Lehren von der Sunde, von der Person Christi (Magdeburg, 1848):Die Lehre vone Staate, etc. (Leipsic, 1850).
