Phal'ti. (My Deliverance). The son of Laish, of Gallim, to whom Saul gave Michal in marriage, after his mad jealousy had driven David forth, as an outlaw.) In 2 Samuel 3:15, he is called Phaltiel . With the exception of this brief mention of his name, and the touching little episode in 2 Samuel 3:16, nothing more is heard of Phalti. (B.C. 1061).

(Heb. Palti', פִּלְטַי , My Deliverance; Sept. Φαλτί ), the son of Laish of Gallim, to whom Saul gave Michal in marriage after his mad jealousy had driven David forth as an outlaw ( 1 Samuel 25:44). B.C. cir. 1061. In 2 Samuel 3:15 he is called PHALTIEL. Ewald (Gesch. 3:129) suggests that this forced marriage was a piece of policy on the part of Saul to attach Phalti to his house. With the exception of this brief mention of his name, and the touching little episode in 2 Samuel 3:16, nothing more is heard of Phalti. Michal is there restored to David. "Her husband went with her along weeping behind her to Bahurim," and there, in obedience to Abner's abrupt command, "Go, return," he turns and disappears from the scene. (See David). There was another person of the same Heb. name ( Numbers 13:9, A.V. "Palti" [q.v.]).
