Giovanni Paolo Cavagna [1]

an Italian painter, was born at Borgo di San Leandro, near Bergamo, in 1560, and probably studied under Titian. His best fresco work is The Assumption in Santa Maria Maggiore, at Venice. Two of his best oil paintings are The Nativity and Esther before Ahasuerus, in the same church. His most noted picture. is The Crucifixion, in Santa Lucia. He died in 1627. See Spooner, Biog.
