(τραπεζίτης, so called from the table used for holding; the coin (See Changer Of Money) ), a broker or banker (i.e., bench-man) (See Bank), one who exchanged money, and also received money on deposit at interest, in order to loan it out to others at a higher rate ( Matthew 25:27).
