Bishopric. The district over which the jurisdiction of a bishop extended.  Acts 1:20;  1 Timothy 3:1.

(ἐπισκοπή, oversight,  Acts 1:20), ministerial charge in the Church. In later times it came to mean

(1) the office and function of a bishop (q.v.), and
