is the name of a supposed early heretic, mentioned by Ittigius (De Haeresiarchis, 3, 1, Appendix 12) as being named in an anonymous commentary on St. Matthew. It is thought the true reading is Barjesu, and that the person intended is Elymas the sorcerer, who, is so called in Acts 13:6. See Burton, Bampton Lectures, P. 495.
