<p> an English clergyman, was born in 1763, and educated at [[Hertford]] College, Oxford, whence he proceeded as A.M. in 1786. He became a minor canon of [[Canterbury]] [[Cathedral]] soon after. In 17.92 he was presented to the vicarage of Milton, near Canterbury, and some years later to the rectory of All-hallows, Lombard Street, London. He was appointed by the archbishop keeper of the MSS. at Lambeth; and in 1820 he was presented, by the earl of Bridgewater, to the rectory of Settrington, in Yorkshire. In 1830 he was collated by the archbishop of York to the prebend of Hushwaite in that cathedral church; and, finally, in 1832, he was appointed archdeacon of Cleveland. He died at Settrington, Yorkshire, Dec. 24,1845.
