He joined the [[Church]] at the age of fourteen, began village preaching in his sixteenth year, entered [[Rotherham]] [[College]] in 1814, and commenced his pastoral life at Bridlington. After four years' labor in that place he removed to Stockport, where he ministered ten years, and then went to Dogley Lane Chapel, near Huddersfield. In 1836 he again returned to Bridlington. He died at Dore, August 19, 1865. His principal publication was entitled The Dialogist. He also, at various times, published sermons and pamphlets. See (Lond.) Cong. Year-book, 1866, page 283. </p>
