a Presbyterian minister, was born at Midway, Liberty County, Georgia, March 14, 1786. He was educated at Walcott, Connecticut, studied law for a time, and was licensed in 1813. He supplied the church at White Bluff soon after, and labored successfully there for about six years. In 1822 he removed to Lexington, Oglethorpe County, and was subsequently elected professor in the Theological Seminary of the Synod of South Carolina and Georgia.
