After preaching at several places, he was called to [[Jamaica]] Plain, where he was ordained, March 27, 1793. In 1843 he resigned in favor of his colleague, [[Joseph]] H. Allen. He died at Jamaica Plain, June 1, 1847. Gray was an agreeable, practical preacher, although it was as a pastor he was most conspicuous. See Christ.
