He was ordained by the bishop of [[Connecticut]] in 1836, and was called to be rector of the [[Church]] in Portland, where he remained in the discharge of his ministerial and parochial duties for the long period of thirty-seven years. Having resigned in 1873, he did not accept another pastorate, but after a time removed to his native place, where he resided about ten years, and died August 16, 1883.
