Being an adherent of the Reformed Church, he had to leave his country, and on his way to [[Basle]] in 1577 held a controversy with [[Faustus]] Socinus, against whom he wrote his De Satisfactione Christi. In 1588 he was appointed pastor of the French [[Church]] at Basle, where he died, January 18, 1608. Being an adherent of the Reformed Church, he had to leave his country, and on his way to Basle in 1577 held a controversy with Faustus Socinus, against whom he wrote his De Satisfactione Christi.
