His opportunities for obtaining an education were very limited, and at the age of thirty-five years he was a hard worker on a small farm in Maine. After this he was set apart to the work of the ministry, and for many years traversed what was then the wild region of Coos Co., N.H., and through his simplicity of character and earnestness of purpose accomplished much good. In later life he was settled in [[Bradford]] and other villages in New Hampshire, and in places in Vermont. He spent his last days in East Milford, N.H., where he died, Feb. 25, 1878.
