George Clinton Chandler [1]
a Baptist minister, was born at Chester, Vt., March 19,1807. He graduated from Madison University in 1835, and from the Newton Theological Institution in 1838. After ordination at North Springfield, Vt., Sept. 5 of that year, he went to Indiana as home missionary there, and afterwards pastor at Indianapolis from 1.839 to 1843. He was president of Franklin College, Ind., for the next seven years, and went as a missionary to Oregon in 1851.
