Chacon commented upon a large number of sacred and profane writers, and was admired by many of his contemporaries for his learning. He died at Rome, Oct. 4, 1581. His works were not published until after his leath. His principal writings are, Calendarii Veteris Explanatio (Antwerp, 1586): — Opuscula, containing rchsaeological treatises (Rome, 1586; also in Grevii Thesaur.): — De Triclinio Romano (ibid. 1588).
