John Blatchford [1]
a Presbyterian minister, was born at Bridgeport, Conn., May 24, 1796. He entered Union College in 1817, and graduated in 1820. He studied theology at Princeton, N. J., was licensed by the Troy Presbytery, andu installed over the Presbyterian Church in Pittstown, N. Y., in 1823, and in 1825 over that in Stillwater, N. Y. In 1829 he accepted a call to a Congregational Church in Bridgeport, where he labored with much acceptance until 1836. For several years after resigning the pastorate he was professor in Marion College.
