He joined the [[Church]] at the age of sixteen, received license to preach in 1813, and in 1815 entered the [[Baltimore]] Conference. In 1844 ill-health obliged him to retire from the active ranks, and he located at Rockville, Md., where he continued to reside until his death, Sept. 2, 1877. As a preacher, Mr. Barry was studious, Biblical, sound, and forcible; as a man, spiritual. See Minutes of Annual Conferences, 1878, p. 15. </p>
