In 1694 he was appointed chief master of the [[Cathedral]] of Toledo; in 1700 he received a similar appointment at Madrid; and again .in 1702, from [[Philip]] V, who placed him over the Alcazar and other palaces of Madrid, with a salary of four hundred ducats per annum. As an architect he designed the decorations at the celebration of the funeral of the dauphin of France, in 1711, and of the queen Maria Louisa of [[Savoy]] in 1715, at the [[Convent]] of the [[Incarnation]] at; Madrid. In 1719 he designed. the principal part of the palace and gardens, the [[Collegiate]] Church, and the great altar of San Ildefonso. He was known also as an architectural and scientific writer.
