les´ô ( Λεσσαού , Lessaoú ; the King James Version Dessau ): A place mentioned only in 2 Maccabees 14:16 as the scene of a battle between Nicanor and the Jews. "Dessau" of the King James Version arises from confusion of the captical Greek letters, Lambda ( Λ ) with Delta ( Δ ). The place may be identical with Adasa (which see).
