He studied at Jena, was appointed rector of the [[Evangelical]] Lutheran school at Smalcald in 1672, and in 1683 went to [[Hildesheim]] as director of the gymnasium there. In 1691 he received a call as pastor to Erfurt, was made doctor of divinity in 1692, and in 1700 followed a call as professor of theology and superintendent to Jena, where he died, April 20 of the same year.
