He pursued his preparatory studies at Saco, graduated from Bowdoin [[College]] in 1825, and from [[Andover]] Theological Seminary in 1828. He was ordained as pastor of the First [[Church]] at Yarmouth, Me., in February 1829, and resigned in April 1849. He was next pastor at Winslow from September 1851, until June 1862; subsequently of the Central Church at [[Falmouth]] for a short time, and then provisional secretary of the [[Maine]] Missionary Society.
