He took orders, and in 1809 became head-master of King Edward's Grammar-school at Great Grimsby. He became vicar of Scopwick in 1831, incumbent of [[Wolverhampton]] in 1834, rector of South Hykeham in 1847, arid died at Lincoln, March 3, 1867. He filled the highest offices in the Masonic order, and wrote numerous works on local ecclesiastical history and Freemasonry, for which see Allibone, Dict. of Brit. and Amer.
