<p> a Presbyterian minister, was born in Overton County, East Tennessee, April 20, 1806. He received a careful [[Christian]] training, early united with the [[Cumberland]] Presbyterian Church, and was soon after elected ruling elder. He subsequently left [[Tennessee]] and settled in Indiana, and, becoming deeply impressed with a call to the ministry, in 1841 he placed himself under the care of the Wabash Presbytery, and immediately commenced preparation for the ministry. He was licensed to preach in 1843, and ordained at Limestone, Indiana, in 1846. He died August 6, 1862. Mr. Mitchell was a plain, earnest, and impressive preacher. See Wilson, Presb Hist. Almanac, 1863, page 415. </p>
