<p> a German Protestant theologian, was born at Leipheim April 26,1725; was educated at the university at Helmstadt; in 1747 went: to Gottingen, and in 1750 became rector of the [[Latin]] school at Helmstadt. In 1756 he accepted a similar position at the Lutheran [[Gymnasium]] at Halle, but returned in 1766 to Gottingen, as professor of theology, and there died, May 29, 1789.
