Smith, James (4),
a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was born in Andover, N.Y., Jan. 21, 1807, and united with the Church in his seventeenth year. He entered the ministry in 1833, and for eighteen years did effective service, and then took a superannuated relation, which he held until his death, at Westfield, Vt., Nov. 20, 1875.
