In his twentieth year he began a course of study, graduated from [[Princeton]] College, and was licensed to preach by the New [[Brunswick]] Presbytery: April 23, 1783. In 1788 he accepted a call to the Presbyterian Church at Allentown, where he remained;, performing' his work faithfully and earnestly, until 1796, when he removed to New Brunswick, and remained until the close of his life, Oct. 19, 1813.
