<p> Campbell, John (7), </p> <p> a Scotch Congregational minister, was born at Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, Jan. 15, 1828, of pious parents, who took him in his childhood to Manchester, Jamaica. He was converted there, and soon afterwards he joined the Church, devoted his life to spreading the [[Gospel]] tidings, entered [[Glasgow]] University, and, having completed his classical and theological courses, he was ordained pastor, in 1855, at Kilmarnock, where he died, March 28,1859. was born in Edinburgh, March 8,1708. His life was devoted to literature, and his publications were very numerous. He edited the "Biographia Britannica," and was one of the writers of the "Universal History."
