an Italian theologian and scholar, was born at Naples, November 25,1769. In 1783 he entered the congregation of the Oratory of Italy, in which he occupied high positions, and in 1820 was raised to the episcopal see of Castellamare. In 1825 he was appointed president of the Council of Public Instruction in the kingdom of Naples.
