He was ordained an evangelist by the [[Presbytery]] of Newton, May 12, 1829. He was .stated supply at Oxford, N. J., from 1829 to 1834; pastor of the First [[Church]] of Belvidere from 1834 to 1840; agent for the [[Board]] of Foreign [[Missions]] from 1840 to 1849; pastor at Lafayette, Ind., from 1850 to 1855; stated supply at Galesburg, Ill., from 1855 to 1866. From 1866 to 1869 he was engaged in a church agency, and from 1869 to 1874 he was pastor at Richview. He died at Peoria, I1., June 19, 1874. See Gen. Cat. of Princeton Theol. Sem. 1881, p. 53. </p>
