He was converted at fifteen; graduated at Allegheny College at eighteen; served four years as professor in the university at Athens, Ohio, two years as superintendent of schools in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania, one year as tutor in Allegheny College, and in 1863 entered the Erie Conference. His appointments were, [[Delaware]] Grove, Sheakleyville, Conneautville, Girard, Bristol, Jefferson, Tidioute; Scoville Avenue, Cleveland; and New Philadelphia. At the close of this last pastorate ill- health compelled him to take a supernumerary relation, which he held until his death at Chautauqua, N.Y., August 3, 1881. a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born in Warren County, Pennsylvania, January 30, 1837.
