He graduated from Amherst [[College]] in 1835; was principal of Franklin Academy, Massachusetts, for three years, while studying theology with [[Reverend]] Elam Smally, D.D.; taught in Hopkins Academy, Hadley, one year; was ordained pastor at [[Mansfield]] in 1839; installed over Winslow Church, Taunton, in 1855, and died there, December 22, 1884.
