In 1835 he graduated at the Western [[Reserve]] College, Hudson, O., and in the fall of the same year entered [[Princeton]] Semr inary, where he was regularly graduated in 1838. He was licensed by the [[Presbytery]] of New Brunswick, April 24 of that year. Having accepted a call to the united churches of Wayne and Jackson, Wayne Co., O., he was ordained and installed by the Presbvtery of Wooster June 23, 1841. The pastoral relation existing between him and the Church of Wayne was. dissolved April 21, 1847, but he continued to be pastor of the [[Jackson]] Church more than thirty-six years, until his death. During the last few years of his life he was very feeble. He died at [[Canaan]] Centre, O. Nov. 29, 1877. During his long ministry in this one charge, he had acquired a vast influence over all classes of the whole community. His knowledge of the [[Scriptures]] in the original was very thorough.
