He received a careful religious training from his pious mother; did not experience conversion, however, until his twenty-fourth year; became a local preacher three years later; soon afterwards emigrated to the United States; and in 1833 united with the New York Conference. He espoused the antislavery and temperance causes with great zeal. He became superannuated in 1853, and died March 10, 1862. See Minutes of Annual Conferences, 1862, p. 73. </p>
