saf - a - tı̄´as ( Σαφατίας , Saphatı́as , Codex Vaticanus Σοφοτίας , Sophotı́as ; omitted in Codex Alexandrinus): Name of a family of returning exiles (1 Esdras 8:34) = "Shephatiah" in Ezra 8:8 . If Saphatias (1 Esdras 8:34) = Saphat (1 Esdras 5:9), as would appear, then part of the family went up with Zerubbabel and part with Ezra.
