Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature [3]

( הִר הָעֲמָלֵקַי ; Sept. Ὄρος Τοῦ Ἀμαλήκ ; Vulg. Mons Amalech), a place near Pirathon, in the tribe of Ephraim ( Judges 12:15), apparently so called from some branch of that Canaanitish clan settled there (comp.  Judges 5:14, שָׁרְשָׁם בִּעֲמָלֵק מַנַּי אֶפְרִיַם , from Ephraim [came those] whose seat [was] by Amalek, A.V. "out of Ephraim was there a root of them against Amalek"). (See Amalekite).
