John Whelen Sterling [1]
a Presbyterian minister, was born at Black Walnut, Pennsylvania, July 17, 1816. He graduated from the College of New Jersey in 1840, Band from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1844; became pastor at Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, in 1845; professor in Carroll College, Wisconsin, in 1846; teacher at Waukesha in 1847; professor in the University of Wisconsin in 1848, and died in office, March 8, 1885.
